Sister Walker also heads up the local chapter of Cease Fire and is a public health model to stop
shootings and killings. They combine Science and Street Outreach to track where violence is heating up
and
then cool the situation down.

In 2008, Margaret Walker was a recipient of the Southwest Everyday Heroes Award on BET (Black
Entertainment Television), where she was nominated by one of the long time members of Youth With A
Positive Direction.

With all the other community services she preforms, she also is a mentor, role model, wife, mother and
friend to many.
